End of Summer Trip to St. Johns, Arizona

School starts this coming Tuesday, so we decided to have a final end-of-summer trip to visit Joe and Lanise in St. Johns. Boy were we glad we did, as it was a fun visit and a great way to end the summer. Most of the time was spent visiting and enjoying the weather outside, as it was only around 80 degrees! Much better than our current 100+ temps in the Gila Valley. It was even nicer with the lush greenery and shade trees around their house. I know I shouldn't covet, but when one sees the grass (and the huge wisteria vine) it is hard to hold back that feeling.

One of the other funny sights we saw was Doc, their 6 year old dog that still acts like a puppy, decide to cool off. In fact, the previous homeowner found that Doc liked to come down the road to visit her fountain, so she left it there just for him.

On Saturday we went out to eat in Springerville, and then went to Lyman Lake State Park which is between Springerville and St. Johns. They had many different trails, but we decided to go on the Petroglyph Trail.

The petroglyphs were all around the trail, and some were right next to the trail. As tempting as it was to touch them, we obeyed the rules and didn't.

Tad was so cute coming out of his "Indian Hole".

Although it was a quick trip, it was the perfect end to summer. Thanks Joe and Lanise for letting us come over!

Sounds like a lot of fun! And the place looks beautiful too--I understand the coveting feeling!

He told me but I'm going to miss them so much, their my best friends! He didn't understand why you had to live so far away :( Wish you were closer but love having you guys come visit!
